One of the fabulous things about being a Leeds and Yorkshire wedding and engagement photographer is the variety of locations couples can choose from for their engagement shoot. When Hannah suggested Bolton Abbey as the location for their engagement photography I was thrilled - there are so many stunning options there. It was also a special location for Hannah & Joe as they will be getting married in an intimate ceremony at amazing Yorkshire Dales venue The Priests House (just down the road) next month.
I do my best to take photos that stand out and look different to the rest, which is a tall order at Bolton Abbey given the abundance of wonderful photography that takes place there. So, to get things started I wanted to try a less recognisable backdrop and we set off into the trees at Strid Wood, just behind the river. This was also a useful thing to do while the crowds died down as it was the warmest Sunday in September, just before the schools went back and Bolton Abbey was a very busy place!
We found a lovely bench high up in the trees over looking the river where the golden sunlight was just perfect. Hannah was dazzling in her blue spotty dress and Joe looked over at her in an adorable way as they sat and chilled after our rather sweaty climb up the hill in the sunshine! We carried on the walk in a loop around Bolton Abbey Estate and ended up back at the Abbey itself and close to the famous stepping stones.
We had a brilliant (and very warm!) afternoon at Bolton Abbey, it was a blast on the walk around the estate in the sunshine and Hannah and Joe have some gorgeous engagement photos to look back on in the years to come. I can't wait to meet up with them again soon for some planning for the big day and to be their Yorkshire wedding photographer for their fabulous wedding at the Priest's House next month.
See you next week for more photography news! Xx
